Meet Ruby
Hi, I’m Ruby, the Founder of Let’s Share, Learn, & Evolve.
Thank you for visiting my page.
Writing about myself has never been easy 🙂, but here it goes.
I am a single mother to two wonderful college-going children, Shivani and Manav, who are my greatest source of strength and inspiration.
Professionally, I am a businesswoman, though by qualification I am a Lawyer/Attorney. I completed my law studies in India, got married, and migrated to the United States in 1994. My official name is Vanita Walia, but I’ve always loved being called Ruby 🙂. I was born and raised in a small city called Kapurthala in North India and am the youngest in my family. I come from a middle-class background—my father was a Central Government employee, and my mother a devoted homemaker. Both instilled strong family values and commitment in me.
I am also the Founder of a non-profit organization, Touch A Soul, established in May 2017. The mission of this organization is to serve underprivileged school children by sponsoring school meals and providing backpacks and essential supplies—nurturing their journey toward a healthy, empowered future. I strongly believe that no child should be deprived of their most basic need: food. To me, service and humanity are my religion. I am here to serve—through my work, charity, or lived experiences.
Life introduced me to many colors at a very young age—some beautiful, some difficult. I had no choice but to accept them. At the time, I didn’t fully understand life (who really does?), but looking back now, every experience makes sense. Each one taught me acceptance, gratitude, and the art of evolving gracefully. One of the most powerful lessons I learned was surrender—when life presents challenges, don’t try to fight or avoid them. Surrender, trust the process, and focus on the bigger picture. I deeply believe that life doesn’t happen to us; it happens for us. I learned this the hard way, but better late than never 🙂.
As Gary Zukav beautifully said in The Heart of the Soul:
“Earth is a school, we are students, people are our teachers, and everything that happens is to help us learn.”
I learn something new about myself every day, as we all do. Don’t strive to be perfect—mistakes are proof that you are trying.
Writing is deeply therapeutic and healing for me. It gives voice to my feelings and emotions. I hope the stories we share here create a ripple effect—one that inspires, heals, and uplifts others, just as writing has done for me.
Things I enjoy most include reading, writing (which takes me to another world where I feel both lost and deeply connected), yoga, meditation, and spending time in nature—my greatest source of motivation. I also enjoy long drives and spending quality time with myself.
My mantras—there are many, but these two guide my life:
“Believe in yourself.”
“You are stronger than you think.”
